New Music Fridays

Hey guys!!! I hope everyone’s week is going well! For me….this has been one of the fastest weeks ever that did not include a holiday in it!! LOL I have been checking out a lot of music lately as well as replaying some albums so I can give a better review on them, and with a lot of albums it’s best to listen more than once to truly give a honest opinion. Starting with Drake’s release of singles he has put out before but were never featured on an album that as of 2 weeks ago was #1 on the charts! The album included some favorite singles such as “The Motion” or “Trust Issues” that brought back so many memories from when I used to play those singles 24/7 while being in my emotions…ya know that “Drake feeling”.
OJ Da Juiceman always stays dropping heat for the streets, check out his new project! BJ The Chicago Kid out did himself on this new project!! I found myself replaying & singing along with every song! BJ is so soulful and came with songs that you can relate to especially those relationship type of songs. Lil Durk’s new project is dope! He is giving me that type of feeling that he will be around for a while. I didn’t get hip to him until 2014, but even 5 years later he still got it, and I believe that there is so much more to him.
Rick Ross finally dropped part 2 to his original debut album, and he is currently holding the #1 spot!!! Rick Ross “The BOSS” always comes with his mafia music vibe while revealing more of himself with this album. He spoke on his previous health issues, and regular life struggles that he has been dealing with while also offering fun tracks to vibe to. Sauce Walka has a new project that I can say is decent…I can’t say much for I am wondering if he is trying to come with a more mature style than before. For example, Sauce Walka projects are mainly about pimping, but from what I heard off the recent project I am getting a feeling of him telling stories in a different perspective that still is reminiscent of his original style…I just got to hear more!!
Ugly God & Trippie Redd also dropped!!! I do have to listen more to Trippie’s new project for he is yelling on this album which is different, but refreshing! Trippie always delivers very good work thus far! I just think he is showing his fans a different side which can lead to people with less expectations of what they THINK a Trippie Redd album should be! Ugly God never disappoints, and his style is so different than others…meaning that he has a mixture of dope rhymes & beats, but you must listen to what he say…don’t get caught up with his name!!

Pompano Runna Interview

On the last episode of Hit or Miss Sundays Ms Cream, Dj Raven, Dayson, and I had the pleasure to have artist, Pompano Runna, as a featured guest on our show! During the interview we listened and voted on three dope tracks that sounded completely different from each other, but allowed us to feel the many depths of Pompano. On the track “Cool Young Nigga” I swear we all voted the track as an “hit” all at the same time. I could imagine deceased rapper, Bankroll Fresh on the track. The other 2 tracks we played, “Dedicated” and “Drippin” are dope too! We did have a moment mimicking his Florida slang LOL me and Cream kept saying “whoop de whoo” LOL

Pompano dropped some real gems during the interview to pay attention to, and even tho he rocks out like a rock star, he speaks well enough to be taken serious & to be understood. I have a feeling that we will be hearing more from this artist very soon!! Check out the rest of the interview below!

Make sure to follow Pompano @pompanorunna_ on all social media platforms!!

NEW MUSIC FRIDAYS

Hey guys!! It’s your girl Mz Slimgoody and I am back with my list of new releases to check out!!! I have a new way that I will be posting about the new music releases that I like, and I hope you guys will love it, so make sure to stay tuned!!! Trust…that you will be seeing more of my lovely face!!

Now, lets get into this list!!! Since July came in I can say that majority of the music has been pretty lit providing hella fun energy into any situation. Beyonce did a great job with the soundtrack to The Lion King even Blue has made history by being the youngest person to contribute to an album!!! That deserves a major shout out!! Iggy Azalea finally dropped her project since 2014!! It’s not my particular vibe , but very high energy packed with a couple of twerking songs gives the album a decent vibe. Yella Beezy has a nice project especially the song that features Chris Brown on it, y’all do know that anything with Chris Brown on it is guaranteed to make somebody’s charts. I was shocked to find out that the rapper Cassidy had dropped a project, and even more shocked to hear that he still got it!! I was on his Instagram the other day just in awe that he still has the persistence to keep going with dope lyrics to match.

I am a new fan of Burna Boy…he makes that type of African music that resonates with my age group or even younger! I love the vibe of his album, like I can not imagine being in a bad mood while listening to his album. A guy to whom I never heard of before, who goes by the name, NF, has a really nice album out, and I just heard today that he his numbers are pretty high to be somewhat unknown, but once you hear his album you can see why his streaming levels are high! E40 dropped a dope project as if he was back in his prime!!! All the tracks are dope, and he got hella features from some of your favorite artists which makes his album even more enjoyable!

Rapsody, GZA & D’Angelo On A 9th Wonder track

ORIGINAL STORY: Following 2017’s Grammy-nomination run with Laila’s Wisdom, Rapsody is moving into her next album campaign. In late June, the Snow Hill, North Carolina MC revealed her plans through a cryptic video, that very briefly flashed the word “Eve” in addition to footage of great Black women across arts and culture, ranging from Beyoncé and Aretha Franklin to Lauryn Hill and Queen Latifah. Days later, the Jamla Records/Roc Nation artist confirmed to Essence‘s Sydney Scott that Eve is an album, planned for August.

Heads get their first taste today (August 2), and it’s another nod to iconic 1990s Hip-Hop. Rapsody enlists GZA and D’Angelo for “IBTIHAJ.” The collaboration, produced by 9th Wonder, honors The Genius’ 1995 breakout “Liquid Swords” from the LP of the same name.

After letting the momentum build (and D’Angelo doing a rendition of the original chorus), Rap’ spits, “When the MCs came to live out their name / Inscribed in the halls and the walls of fame / Balancing life, wrote both the yin and yang / Hands buried the man and they raised the son to reign / That’s a play on words, they say herb ain’t all the same / Slaves in prison and they some unchained / While everybody in my gang a star, DJ Preem’ / Screaming through the sun roof, ‘money still ain’t a thang’ / While I’m spending small bank, asking ‘where is my change?’ / Carpool with the homies, saving gas in my tank / I think like a billionaire, I spend less than I make / Strong minded, I should bench way more than my weight / Women been leading the way, since Roxanne Shanté / And the Unit had Flavor, and Jay had Marcy neighbors that waved.” In her verse (that keeps GZA’s opening line), Rapsody addresses maintaining core values through her success and fame. Throughout, she nods to Hip-Hop giants including Queen Latifah, the First Lady of the Juice Crew, DJ Premier, The Lady Of Rage, Wu-Tang Clan, and her Roc Nation honcho, JAY-Z.

GZA, who has been especially reserved in releasing music lately, raps about keeping his product and profile scarce. “When I’m so off the radar, it’s very hard to find me / In space, a selfie, with the Earth behind me / You follow the leader, the track is off the meter / A lot of Rap is weak, low frequency in the tweeters / Very inaudible, clock radio speakers / Quietly whispering is a world of WikiLeak-ers / Forget the gaudiness my method is nauseant / Transferring ideas into the brains of the audience / The street poet gave this special art form a global reach / I earned your ear, then your heart by giving the local speech / Weaving wonder with words as potent as a sorcery / Not witchcraft, but a list of terms in the glossary / Well-written rap, bound to have a great impact / On a listener for the fact it’s well intact / An MC should electrify, beautify, strive to / Empower, inspire, transform a world view,” spits the Brooklyn giant.

Murs & Rapsody Team Up On A Song Produced By 9th Wonder’s Daughter

As if GZA’s appearance were not rare enough, D’Angelo accents the homage with his multi-tracked vocal. 9th Wonder freaks the same sample RZA used, but does so differently. He lets another jewel in the record play into this beat.

Notably, the title references Ibtihaj Muhammad, the 2016 USA Olympic fencer. She was the first American to wear a hijab while competing on the historic and global stage. Winning the bronze, Muhammad became the first-ever Muslim-American woman to earn a medal. Given the June video, and May’s “Phylicia” (with Phylicia Rashad as its artwork), Rapsody may be titling her Eve tracks after her inspirations. Laila’s Wisdom had its aspects of concept, as Rap’ explained to AFH TV.
